Convenient Access from Welcome
Old US 52 does most of the driving between the North Davidson area and Carolina Pines Dentistry. From the elementary school it is about a 14-minute drive south to our office in Lexington, close enough that parents searching for a dentist near Welcome can plan visits around school, practice and work without much fuss. Our first appointments begin at 7:30 AM, Monday through Thursday.
From Welcome Elementary School at 5701 Old Highway 52, head south on Old US 52 for a little over four miles. The road becomes Winston Road (NC 8) and passes the east edge of the Erlanger mill village before turning into Salem Street. In uptown, turn left on West 3rd Street, right on North Pugh Street, then left onto East Center Street and continue east, 7.0 miles in all, to 1 Weaver Dr.
We are at the north end of Weaver Drive, where it meets North Carolina Avenue, just off East Center Street. Find us on Google Maps to keep the route handy. Families in Midway, a few miles north, and in Erlanger, which the drive passes, follow parts of the same corridor.
A Community Built on a Railroad Name, and a Practice Close By
The name has a friendly origin. In the early 1900s, a meeting in the community of Hinkle gathered to name a new depot on the Winston-Salem Southbound Railway. One man said the most important thing was that all people should feel invited, and everyone agreed on Welcome.
Today Welcome is a census-designated place of a few thousand residents in Davidson County, north of Lexington, covering a little over nine square miles. It is unincorporated, with Midway and Arcadia among its neighbors and Lexington to the south. Old US 52 is its spine, linking homes, schools and the fire station on North Leonard Road.
What stands out is how complete the school path is. Children can start at Welcome Elementary, move to North Davidson Middle on Critcher Drive and finish at North Davidson High on Old US 52, all within the same community. That means a lot of families with kids at every stage, from first loose teeth to senior portraits. North Davidson High can even claim a Miss America: Nia Franklin, Miss America 2019, graduated from the school.
The North Davidson Public Library, also on Critcher Drive, rounds out the area's shared spaces.
Growing Smiles Along Old US 52
A family with an elementary schooler and a high schooler has two very different dental calendars. Younger kids need sealants and fluoride while their permanent molars come in. Teenagers start asking about straighter teeth, whiter smiles and what to do about wisdom teeth.
Clear aligners are a popular option. CandidPro trays are removable, so they come out for meals and sports, and they are hard to spot in class photos.
Brightening a smile before prom, graduation or a first job interview is another common goal. Professional whitening is supervised by a dentist, and our Zoom teeth whitening treatment is an in-office option for patients who want a noticeably brighter smile.
Not every teen is relaxed in the chair. Nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV sedation are all available, and new patients can book a complimentary IV sedation consultation. Our therapy dog tends to win over nervous visitors before the appointment even starts.
Accidents at practice or on the playground happen to every family eventually. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown, keep it moist, ideally in milk, and call the office right away. For a chip or a crack, save any pieces and call; the team strives to fit urgent problems into the schedule.
Adults with a cracked or heavily filled molar have a time-saving option as well. CEREC same-day crowns are designed, made and placed in one visit, so a single morning can take care of the repair without a return trip down Old US 52.
Parents deserve attention too. Morning appointments from 7:30 AM let adults finish a cleaning before work, and the office closes at 4 PM Monday through Thursday, with Fridays closed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Carolina Pines Dentistry from Welcome, and how do I get there?
Our office is 7.0 miles from Welcome Elementary School, around 14 minutes by car. Follow Old US 52 south onto Winston Road (NC 8) and Salem Street, then take West 3rd Street, North Pugh Street and East Center Street. Families looking for a dentist near Welcome stay on one main corridor almost the entire way.
Do children need fluoride treatments at their checkups?
For most children, yes. A fluoride treatment at a checkup strengthens enamel and helps young teeth resist cavities. It takes only a few minutes and fits into a routine cleaning and exam. Families without insurance can use the child membership plan for ages 0 to 13, which includes two cleanings, two exams and one fluoride treatment a year for $264.
Should my child wear a mouthguard for sports?
Yes, in any sport where a ball, stick, elbow or fall can strike the mouth. A sports mouthguard cushions a blow that could chip, crack or knock out a tooth, and it helps protect the lips and cheeks too. Sports mouthguards are part of the preventive care here, so one can be fitted during a regular checkup before the season starts.
Can professional teeth whitening be done in one visit?
Yes. Zoom teeth whitening is a professional-grade treatment that delivers noticeable results in just one session. It works on surface stains from coffee, tea and similar habits, and the dentist checks your teeth and gums first so the whitening goes onto a healthy smile. Crowns and fillings do not lighten, so plan any front-tooth work around your new shade.
Can a dentist help with snoring or sleep apnea?
Often, yes. Sleep apnea treatment is one of the services offered here. Loud snoring, gasping during sleep and heavy daytime tiredness are warning signs worth raising at your next exam. The dentist can talk through whether a dental approach suits you and how it would fit alongside care from your physician, who can arrange a sleep study.
